Welcome to the Snow Creek Christian Church web site.

It's no secret that we over sentimentalize JESUS' birth. Looking back it is easy to be caught up in the simplicity of that occasion. A family traveling when the woman is about ready to deliver, not having a reservation system, they were unable to find a decent place for an evenings rest. The only thing available was that stable behind the inn. And of course those shepherds, the lowest of the low, coming down from the hills to take a peep at this newborn who was destined to be king. Angels singing. you would have to be a woman who has given birth to a child to recognize the hardship of that first Christmas. No hospital, no doctors, no sanitary conditions, not even a midwife, much less an EMT. Sure enough it was a hard enough way to be brought into a world that would not be so welcoming.
However, we welcome Christmas with open arms because of its simplicity -and yet more because this was the birth of the Savior of the world. He is the very one who would bring "peace on earth and good will to all."
Obviously that peace has not come in the sense that this world seems determined to wage war - it is as though we thrive on conflict. For the Christian this has to be discouraging.  In a world of love there can be no hate, or fear, or greed, the very things that feed the conflict that have plagued this world of ours for centuries. For us Christians, there is another kind of peace that enables us to live above the worlds conflicts and that is "inner peace".
May your Christmas be meaningful and spiritually uplifting!

Keep us in your prayers. Grace and Peace-Jim Compton, Interim Minister.
