How to Insure That You Hear a Good Sermon on Sunday
"Then [Jesus] said, 'Anyone who is willing to hear should
listen and understand!'" Mark 4:8-9
"Willing to hear" - now that is the issue. God expects
us to want to hear His message.
God uses ordinary human beings, with all their abilities
and their lack of abilities, to be the conduit between Him and us. When we get hung up on the messenger we often
fail to pay attention to the message itself.
So, if you want to hear a good sermon, take responsibility.
Prepare yourself for the sermon before you even enter the sanctuary. Think about the sermons role in worship.
We worship God by being attentive to His message. We praise Him by listening with our hearts as well as our ears.
We honor Him by taking the message into our lives outside the doors of the sanctuary.
Pray for the preacher before Sunday. He or she is
preparing that sermon all week long. Your prayers support the efforts.
Ask the pastor to give you the sermon scriptures ahead of
time and read it before Sunday morning. Look for the challenges within the passage.
Pray that God will speak to you on Sunday.
He will!
